This listing is for a Purpleheart Wooden Hanbo Staff. This is an upgrade to a common bamboo or rattan staff. The Hanbo Staff or half-staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. These particular staffs are 36 to 42" inches in length. These staffs have a constant diameter of 1,1/8 or 1,1/4" throughout its length. Making these staffs appropriate for the heaviest applications or for weight training.
The materials consist of Purpleheart wood. These staffs may or may not be laminated depending on wood quality and availability.
42" staffs can function as a shorter jo staff or a longer hanbo staff. The standard hanbo size is 36"
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil, which causes the purpleheart to have a rich dark purple color. The oil gives it a permanent shine while allowing the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff, which is required for proper technique.
Purpleheart is naturally purple. Making it one of the most beautiful and functional woods in the world for Martial Arts uses.
