This is a handmade Ipe Railing. Ipe is very hard exotic heavy wood which is beautiful for outdoor use.
Each railing is made to order so please allow 2-3 weeks for completion.
The width is 1.5 inches round and the length can be up to 7 feet.
These are not intended for use as a walking staff or a karate staff especially at longer lengths due to their extreme weight unless specifically desired for weight training. At 6 feet the weight can be around 5 pounds.
Unlike my karate staffs, the thickness of these staffs makes straightening all but impossible, so these railings may have the natural curve of the wood in them. It is not drastic and will not affect installation or aesthetic appeal.
These staffs are as close to an exact 1.5 diameter circle as I can get, however these are handmade objects. For use as a railing, it will feel perfectly circular, but to do sanding and working these by hand, the diameter is not a machine perfect 1.5 circle. It may vary a few hundredths of an inch in places.
This does not come with attachments to install so you will need to purchase them separately from your local hardware store.
Ipe is twice as hard as common American Hickory. It is one of the hardest woods in the world. It has an amazing smooth sturdy feel. It has a beautiful heavy dark brown color.
Thee finished with linseed and Beeswax oil, which gives it a permanent shine and protective layer while allowing the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the railing, however for more protection you may want to apply your own finish or sealant to permanently protect against the elements.
These objects are cut to specifications and are considered a custom order so unless there is a manufacturing defect, there are no returns for these items.
