This listing is for 100% handmade Ipe wood Bo Staffs. The Bo Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool which are used in Kobudo martial arts weapon styles. These staffs range from 60 to 72". Its diameter is constant throughout its length. The diameter of these staffs is either 1,1/8" or 1,1/4" diameter of this staff makes it appropriate for the heaviest of applications.
These staffs are extremely heavy and therefore best for weight training, or extreme heavy applications.
The materials consist of extremely dark heavy Ipe wood. Ipe wood resists denting and is twice as hard as hickory on the wood hardness scale.
Discounted varieties have non straight grain or some pin knots, making them recommended for solo use only. These staffs are extremely heavy and are recommended for muscle building or good posture in performing technique.
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil, which gives it a permanent shine and protective layer while allowing the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff, which is required for proper technique.
