This is a 100% handmade Wooden Tanbo Staff pair. These are also commonly known as escrima sticks or kali sticks. This is an upgrade to a common bamboo or rattan staff. The Tanbo Staff is a traditional South American training tool used mainly in Arnis style martial arts. These particular sticks have a constant diameter of 1 inch throughout its length. The materials consist of beautiful hickory and a layer of purpleheart wood down the center for added straightness and beauty and weight. Hickory is the heaviest available indigenous North American wood. Purpleheart is another exotic hardwood comparable to Hickory. This staff does not have any appreciable wobble, flex or hand shock.
Laminated staffs are stronger, straighter, and safer than solid staffs. And these particular sticks are completely functional and beautiful.
Hickory can come in darker, lighter, or a mixture of darker or lighter woods combined. The staff pair you recieve will be unique. The pictures above are a generic representation of what is possible and do not represent exactly what you staff will look like.
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil, which gives it a permanent shine and protective layer while allowing the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff, which is required for proper technique.
